There are many different support programs for individuals with special needs and their families. There are programs that offer assistance with mental health, employment, transitions, classroom tools, behavioral resources, early intervention (EI).
This list of organizations provides individual and family resources, support, interventions, and transitional assistance among many others. These organizations may not be specific to your area, however, each site includes valuable information.
Autism Speaks
This organization provides resources for all with special needs, Autism-friendly events, federal and state initiatives, and links to services in your area (social skills groups, health services, respite care, service dogs, parent training, and much more).
Easter Seals
Offers services for children, young adults, adults, seniors, veterans, caregivers. Special needs care programs, mental health programs, employment, and training opportunities for individuals and families with needs and challenges.
DART
Preschool and early intervention services that offer several screenings, developmental assessments, intervention. This program may not be in every state.
Heath Resource Center
Information and resources on transitions to postsecondary education for individuals with any type of special need or diagnosis.
National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled
A service that provides audiobooks and books with braille to individuals with special needs. Books can be instantly downloaded or sent via mail.
Pacer Center
Children's mental health, early childhood family information, housing for individuals with special needs, transition, and employment center.
